A Mixel a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

As you can imagine, that is not true.

I am actually taking a break from Mixel. Maybe forever. Who knows?

Mixel is driving me crazy!

Late last year I downloaded the Mixel app onto my iPad and really wasn't enthused about it. I made a mixel and saved it, but never created a login to publish it.

My first mixel. Not too cool except for Will.

For some reason, I recently revisited the app and have really come to enjoy creating collages with it. I sometimes crank out two or three a night. My photographs are even finding their way into the mixels as backgrounds.

A photo I took in Shanghai while riding on the back of a scooter becomes an epic tale of distraction and excess. Sort of.

At first I was a bit hesitant about sharing my creations outside of the Mixel community. Afterall, some of the mixels are, how should I say, bizzarre...

Nice.

But now, after some reflection, I feel that the best thing I can do for myself and the world is to share these works of art in every way possible across multiple media. I've incorporated my mixels into Facebook, Path, Instagram, tweets, etc. There's no holding back now. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Just a few examples from my Mixel stream.

Gamera

Gamera has the general configuration of a turtle, albeit a tremendously large one that is capable of walking on two legs and flying, though he occasionally walks quadrupedally in his first three films. Gamera demonstrates the ability to manipulate objects with his forefeet. He possesses a pronounced sagittal crest on top of his head and his mouth is filled with teeth, with a pair of large tusks protruding upward from the lower jaws, a precedent unheard of in turtles, save perhaps for the prehistoric turtles Proganochelys and Odontochelys.
